This book wasn't bad enough to give a bad review, but wasn't good enough to be called "2019 Thriller of the Year!" like what's happening on all the promotional materials. The classic case of unreliable narrator paired with the typical rush through the pages of the thriller genre. I was entertained, but the twists were easily guessable and the novel didn't stick with me long after finishing it at all. I just wasn't impressed. I want more innovation from more recent thrillers. We've seen it all and it's all been done. Make me say wow; be different from the pack; show me what you've really got. It's hard to write a thriller when everything's already been done. I want to see something new and I didn't get that here. It was just fine. Nice candy for the brain when you need it though.
