Many reasons I really enjoyed this book is because of its Kansas City references. Kansas City is my home. Many of the places the author references are ones I’m very familiar with. With that said, I’m not sure if someone who isn’t from Kansas City would find the same enjoyment in this read.
Beautiful Bad is a thriller. I don’t know if I would classify it as a “page-turning-can’t-put-down thriller”, but it’s a thriller. In many places I wish the author would’ve given me more excitement, but overall I enjoyed this book.
I’m giving it 4 stars, although some non-KC people may rate it only 3. For me, the local references and the twisty sort of ending is what I enjoyed most. I do look forward to another book from this author. Being this is her debut, I feel like it was quite exceptional. I can’t wait to see what she has in store as a writer in the future. Also, the way the book ended has me a bit excited for the possibility of a sequel?
