I hated the ending

I liked some of this book for the first half. A lot of it was annoying but I tried to get past it so I could start figuring out what was going on. You're thrown from present to past, from Maddie's POV most of the time to Ian's POV, etc. There's a lot of time-swapping which I find irritating in and of itself. But I was pulled into this tangled web, at least for the first part. The characters are so completely unlikable, they're awful. I couldn't stand Maddie and Joanna at ALL. But I wanted to get to the nitty gritty and the crime and the unraveling. Well. I hated the ending. I have so much to say about it that I can't because of spoiling. But it was a terrible ending and made no sense and was just so dumb. There was literally no real reason for that person to kill that other person. So effing stupid. I will be hesitant about Ward's future books.
