Thank you to Bookish First and the publishers for my ARC.

This genre is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. You get the feeling from the beginning that Maddie is a tortured soul, you just don't know why until almost the end, while Ian's torture is played out well throughout the book. I just kept thinking through the whole book...why doesn't someone, his family in England, Maddie, someone get this man some help. If this was real life he probably would have attempted suicide at least once for all that he had seen and gone through. There is a bit of a twist at the end, and I thought it was well played out. The biggest twist for me, and maybe I'm the only one, was that Maddie really did love Ian throughout. It thought after the reveal that we would find out Maddie was faking her feelings all those years but then you find out no, she does really love him, she is just super messed up, paranoid, and smart.

There were a few little things I noticed as errors as this is a advanced copy I recieved. One was that during one of Maddie and Ian's first big fights Ian reveals that Joanna had a miscarriage and Maddie realizes that is why Joanna hung up on her when she called to tell her she was pregnant and why she had never come to visit Maddie and to meet Charlie. But at that time in the story Maddie wasn't even pregnant yet. Maybe a nit picky thing but it didn't flow right.

Overall, a great book and I recommend to anyone who likes thrillers about murder and messed up people.
