Don’t judge a book by its cover

This book was a surprise for me. I won an ARC in a giveaway, and when it came in the mail I asked myself why I had even entered. The cover was not very appealing. The blurb didn’t sound enticing. But I was hooked from the very beginning.

I absolutely loved the Eastern European setting and its juxtaposition against the latter half in Kansas. I thought the pacing was perfect, the characters all felt extremely authentic. Like most books in this genre, the ending was a little far-fetched. But as someone who is beyond sick of the overdone unreliable female narrator, this one completely worked for me.

I do wish the publisher had done a better job with the cover and the blurb, because I don’t think it sells this book nearly as well as it could.

I highly recommend this one for fans of the domestic suspense genre, especially if you prefer a more developed setting than what you normally get with other books of the genre.
