Maddie and Joanna are close friends. They both work with nonprofits going in and out of combat zones helping civilians. Maddie meets bad-boy Ian and they begin a relationship. This drives a wedge between Maddie and Joanna as Joanna had had a past relationship with Ian. Joanna tries to warn Maddie about the dark side of Ian but her warnings are rebuffed.
Maddie and Ian appear to be the perfect couple but we all know that appearances can be deceiving.
The first few pages of the book pulled in but it didn’t mine. Sorry.
But that intensity soon dropped off to just a lot of nothingness. I tried to maintain interest in the story but just couldn’t. After reading the first 100 or so pages of the book I skipped the next 170 or so pages to read the ending. I really didn’t feel like I missed much by doing so.
I hope it will hold the interest of other readers but it didn’t mine. Sorry.
