What a cool story idea! I think a lot of people might not like this due to the domestic violence, but I believe the author handled a sensitive situation really well.
My favorite part of this was the setting. I love how there are two plots: past, in Europe, and present, in the US. The characters were developed in very unique ways in both settings. The European setting gave off a young, hip vibe. Most people could probably relate to young people traveling, and she has the right audience for discussing the effects of 9/11. In modern-day, the characters are more grown up and dealing with everyday stressors.
