I really liked this book, but it was not my favorite book of all time. I thought the themes were really cool and the story was good. I felt the first 200 pages took a while to get going and it took the first 200 pages to get past the synopsis of the book and get into the rest of the story. Due to that I feel like I lost a little interest and had to work on continuing.
Once you get past that though I feel like it picks up. The Night Zoo and Greater Jungle was really interesting and scary. There was a scene in the jungle where I got full body shivers. I liked all the different creatures and dangers that were presented.
I felt like I kind of understood where the story was going, but not totally. You’re following two main perspectives and a third perspective that is much lesser. Koffi is in a poor situation and Ekon is trying to be an elite warrior and some of their banter together was really funny.
Over all the story was good and I hope she continues this series!
