The style of writing was very unique. The idea of a circus of beasts that are rare or hard to find is nothing new, but this story took it to the next level by adding magic into the mix. The main characters were not one dimensional and had great backstories. I would love to hear more about them in the future. I liked how the author jumped from the past to the present and showed different perspectives from each character. I hated the idea of the indentured servants/slaves, but it was essential to the storyline. I liked that the heroine was just as brave as the boys that were brought up as warriors and in a way was so much better than all of them put together.
I was originally drawn to the cover of this book because it was so interesting and unique compared to other covers that usually have a picture of one of the main characters on it. I loved the authors choice of words and phrases throughout the book. I really enjoyed this book and wish I could hear more about each characters' past.
