This book is truly amazing. Since the first time that I saw the cover on my Instagram feed and learned what it was about I knew I had to read it. I was so excited to finally read this book and let me tell you that Beast of Prey was fantastic. I am so happy that it didn’t fall short of my expectations. I really enjoyed world building, especially as I am a contemporary reader that occasionally reads fantasy. The magic in this world is unique at least to me and I really found it enjoyable to learn how fantastical beasts were used. The pacing never felt slow to me, and it was enough to keep me engaged. Koffi was so strong and determined throughout the story and it made her a likeable character to me. I believe that Ekon is intended to be neurodiverse, but I am not 100% sure. If you are looking for a ya fantasy novel to pick up I 100% recommend Best of Prey. I can't wait for the Netflix adaptation!
