I wish I had remembered to come back to my account to claim a copy of this book with my points. The cover design caught my eye, and I liked the title, it seemed to promise a good, contemporary story about different teenagers behaving badly. Evie, the youngest in the crowd of "bad girls," is a good narrator. she is just shy enough to make the reader like her and feel some concern for her safety. Evie seems to care enough about herself to stay out of trouble with her mother and to feel some sympathy for the new girl at their high school who is being mistreated only because she looks like she is from the wealthier part of town.

I would have liked to know a little more about the reason for Evie's friend Connie having been in the juvenile detention system in Gainesville, Texas. Everyone in the tougher crowd seems to be celebrating Connie's release that night as the book begins, and Connie seems unphazed by the locked-up experience.

In a couple of places the teenage conversation seemed a little stilted, as if a much older person were writing the story. I also paused at the description of one of the tough girls as a "bottle blonde." That seemed like a dated description, but I could be wrong.

I am still very interested in this story and look forward to finding out what becomes of this entire gang of people.
