Bad City by Paul Pringle is an interesting read. It's pretty amazing how so many scandals centered around those connected to the University of Southern California. Corruption, abuse, payoffs, coverups and more, the author recounts how a tip of an overdose involving a prominent USC doctor and a young woman at a fancy hotel turns into a multi year ordeal.

Pringle had a heck of a time trying to get the original overdose story published suggesting corruption within the Los Angeles Times as well.

The story I found most disturbing takes place towards the end of the book. It involves a USC gynecologist who, for years, took advantage of female university students when all the warning signs were extremely obvious and multiple reports and complaints were made.

This book just goes to show how powerful money, status and power can be. Sometimes the press can sensationalize a story and sometimes they can uncover major corruption that needs to be stopped.
