I received this book through a Bookish giveaway. This was a great tale of power and corruption in LA. Journalist Paul Pringle who works for the Los Angeles Times received a tip about an drug overdose of a young woman at a hotel. This started the investigation of Dr. Carmen Puliafito, the head of the prestigious medical school at USC. It is discovered that Puliafito not only supplied the drugs that caused the overdose but also partakes of these elicit drugs. Pringle confronts many barriers to his investigation due to cover ups and buffers money, power, and prestige affords those who have it. Pringle will team up with his fellow colleagues to get to the bottom of these cover ups and to do what it takes to uncover why Puliafito is not being reprimanded or fired from his post when these facts come to light.

This was a great read. It was so mind blowing that such people could get away with such horrendous actions and not be held accountable. Pringle does a great job of relaying his investigation and how it all unfolds. The only complaint i have is that there were no pictures included in the book. It would of been nice to see who was who and seen pictures of the different locales instead of having to go search it on the internet. Good story. Highly recommend for those who like true crime and sensational stories.
