This young adult action-thriller opens with a missing camper, a member of the party covered in blood and everyone stuck in a blizzard. After instantly pulling you in it flashes back a few days to explain how Colin, Ceo, Grahame and Ellie all ended up together hiking into the Yosemite National Park completely unprepared for what was about to happen. Told alternating from Colin and Ellie's perspectives, the story progresses with short flashbacks introduced to help explain the relationships between school friends Colin, Ceo and Grahame.

While the book does contain a fair amount of action, and offers a nice introduction to the psychological thriller for teens the alternating perspective does not work well, since it isn't written in first person, and a few of the flashbacks feel forced. Some readers will see the ending coming but overall it is an enjoyable read, and a good choice for teen boys.
