Bad Call is one of those books where you have to suspend a little bit of disbelief in order to enjoy. The problem is that the suspension of that disbelief continues to increase as the pages in the book increase. The characters just continue to make bad calls and you just have to go with it. Unfortunately, you find yourself asking "would someone really do this?" too often. The story is strong, the writing is good and I feel Wallenfel's has a better book on the horizon.

Bad Call is a story of mystery and who to trust. Playing out like a written adaptation of A Simple Plan, the woods holds a lot of paranoia for our characters. Who to trust, people's motives and intentions are in question and at the center of it all is why would any of these people decide to go together.

I enjoyed the book, I liked the pacing and the writing. Just when I turned the last page I was flooded with questions that just were answered and plausible. I think the aftertaste is what made my rating go down. But again a solid entry from Wallenfel and I would read more of his work.
