I live in a National Park in the Rockies and I've always wondered about those stupid people who wander up trails or attempt to climb mountains completely unprepared and later have to be rescued by Mountain Rescue. Or have their bodies recovered. I've never understood what they are thinking. Accidents happen, freak weather can be a bitch, but how do you embark on a back-country camping trip without proper gear? I once passed someone headed up a moderately technical trail in flip flops! It boggles the mind! "Bad Call" is all about those people. They don't make just one bad call. When faced with a decision they always make the wrong one. Even when things go horribly wrong they waste time and energy arguing among themselves rather than working together to survive. It was all very frustrating and they were the most annoyingly stupid bunch of teens I have come across. It was a fast paced, exciting read but there were so many points at which I just wanted to slap some sense into the characters. Was I ever that stupid as a teen? Possibly, but at least I never had to be rescued from the back-country!
