(Initial thoughts after Chapter 1 Preview):

I must admit that a book called "Aunti Poldi and the Sicilian Lions" is probably not one I would ever purposefully grab from the shelf straight away.

However, by reading the extended preview first look, I must admit I actually found this book's premise interesting and the reader quickly is given foreshadowing of the interesting, future things to come. The writing was decent and it seems (based on the first full chapter) that the story is well structured.

Very little of the first part of the book specifically describes the characters. However, in learning about Poldi's quest for a home and what she deems as important and in the discussion of the drives with the uncle, the reader actually learns quite a bit about Auntie Poldi and her family. It is made clear to the reader that this eccentric group of characters will have a stong impact on the storyteller's life.
