Aunti Poldi - you gotta love her irreverent, non conforming, boozy, messy haired self. And if you don't fall in love with her you will certainly fall in love with Sicily. The descriptions of the small towns and the countryside are vivid. It's not a book that will change the world but it will certainly make you laugh and cheer for the protagonist. A most unlikely detective, she is determined to uncover the facts behind the death of her young, handsome hired hand. There are some unusual twists and turns in the process which keeps the book interesting. The writing is masterful and almost poetic in describing the surroundings. Everyone has a relative that screams eccentricity and therefore will relate to Aunti Poldi.
