I'm always on the look out for a light hearted cozy mystery, especially if the setting has the power to transport me to an exciting location. On paper, this book seems like it would be right up my alley, so I was excited to pick up this one and the next installment, Auntie Poldi and the Vineyards of Etna. The covers are so wonderful and I was excited to dive right in. Unfortunately, I only made it to page 140 before giving up. There are just too many characters and the writing style is too dry for my tastes. Lots of meandering and things just drag on. Things that have nothing to do with the story at hand. There are little plot summaries at the beginning of each chapter and I just don't know why really. They do nothing to add to the story. It was like the authors outline for what they wanted that chapter to accomplish. I'm here for the finished story, not the outline. I do really love the cover though, so may try this book again in the future.
