I thoroughly enjoyed this book about unconventional amateur sleuth, Auntie Poldi. This novel was the first of the author's to be translated into English, and I am hoping the other books in this series are translated soon because I am impatient to read them. I need to find out what Poldi gets involved with next, and I am especially interested to find out what happens between Poldi and Detective Chief Inspector Vito Montana.

I found this book to be full of character. It has a unique flavor that I found fun and refreshing. Poldi herself is one of a kind. I liked that every chapter had a short introductory summary that gave a slight preview of what would happen. The setting of Sicily was done so well that I could truly imagine being there. There are plenty of interesting supporting characters. This took me a few chapters to find the flow of the writing, but I became invested in both the mystery and the characters.
