An unemployed writer is recruited into driving Aunt Poldi from Munich to her new home in Sicily. The descriptions of both family and place are rich in texture and depth. Although the plot and storyline are not fully explained, I finished this First Look wanting to read the book!
Aunt Poldi sounds like the eccentric aunt who many of us would like to be. She's a boozing, depressive type, but also very colorful. Definitely not a one dimensional character!
She's independent, and cannot be deterred from her plan to die with a view of the sea. She also refuses to consider purchasing a house with "bad vibes". Her choice ends up being a dilapidated ruin with gorgeous views!
