Adventures of Auntie Poldi
Auntie Poldi decides to retire to Italy and gets caught up in a police investigation for her friend Valentino.
I did not care for this book, I can’t tell if it’s the true writing or just the translation. The copy I have is an ARC and there are narrations at the front of each chapter and I dare say that I almost liked reading those narrations over reading the actual chapter. All the characters felt a little over the top and the plot felt a little jumbled in spots.
But I will say, I sure want to go to Italy now! One of my favorite parts was the talk in the beginning of the Italian markets with descriptions of the pizza, cherries, pistachios, wild fennel, and the fresh fish. It such an atmosphere, I can picture the market and smell the food and I just loved it.
