I couldn't get into it

I just couldn't wrap my head around the writing style. It felt unpolished and awkward and my internal narration was one long run on sentence. I gave up reading, started skimming, and by page 5 gave up on that too. Aside from the gorgeous cover, nothing about this story grabbed my attention and hooked me.
