Assassins is a book of war, and it covers mountain fighting, brutality, spying, and filth. In the midst of all the killing, I still felt the humanity of the characters, even in the midst of their most awful deeds.
There's so much history that is covered, and maybe through fiction we'll be able to understand how it is that war can never end.
