I was hooked from the first few pages. This book was so well written and every chapter kept you wanting more. The pacing was excellent and as you read you began to realize why the main character was having such a struggle with his wish. I loved the Eldon's character and I really empathized with his struggles. What I really liked about the book was the intrigue. I am not a fantasy fan but this book never got there. It hovered right on the edge of but was realistic enough to keep me grounded. I thought the introduction of the alien followers added a great contrast or comparison to the main theme. We tend to "see" what we've been talked into believing. I also appreciated that the language in the book has limited profanity and very little mention of sex. I fell comfortable having my 13 year old read this book.
