I was given an advanced copy of As You Wish by Chelsea Sedoti by Sourcebooks in return of an honest review.
I, Cindy wish to write positive reviews on books that I read. Sounds great, huh? As You Wish by Chelsea Sedoti explores the very idea of this unique topic. Chelsea has written a truly wonderful, thought provoking, with a rare glance of what would you do novel. Imagine for a moment that you live in a town where wishes come true. On your 18th birthday, you can make a wish and that wish will come true. Sounds awesome, I know.
As You Wish follows Eldon Wilkes, a young man, 26 days before his wish day. Not knowing what to wish for, he interviews some the past wishers and how their wish affected them and the people around them. As Eldon’s story unfolds, we get a broader view of Madison, Arizona, some of the people that live in this town, stipulations that come with wishing, not to mention, you better be prepared of what happens after your wish. Not everything in Madison, Arizona is as perfect, and is wishing truly as wonderful as it seems?
I truly enjoyed following Eldon’s journey before and after his wish and the people who surround Eldon’s life. As You Wish has some interesting twists, plot lines, and gave enough background to say, may be I would have done the same if I was in Eldon’s shoes, or would I? Definitely a book I could re-read in a few years down the road, and still enjoy as if I was reading for the first time. Thank you, Chelsea Sedoti for crafting a wonderful, unique and thought provoking book.
