The story and characters drew me in from the first chapter. Eldon's narration has just the right amount of sarcasm to appeal to a young adult audience while still telling a story that adults would appreciate. The characters were easy to relate to, which piqued my interest in learning more about them.

The casual, conversational sound of this book pulled me in and made me curious about what was going to happen next. Despite the fact that the narrator, Eldon, clearly has his own faults, I can't help but find him endearing. I'm intrigued by what he really hopes for, as well as what happened to his sister—was it a wish gone wrong? Is she gone? Is she dead?—and why are aliens so important in this story? I don't recall reading any other YA novels that deal with wishes in the way that this one does, but it reminds me a little of Maggie Stiefvater's All the Crooked Saints, in the best possible way. I'm looking forward to finishing this novel as soon as I can get my hands on a complete edition!
