I'm normally a big fan of Chelsea Sedoti's writing, but As You Wish really missed the mark for me. I think that the premise was fantastic. A small town where everyone gets a wish on their 18th birthday, and that wish always comes true. You can make the most of that wish, or totally waste it. It's up to you to decide. But be careful what you wish for...
Unfortunately, it was wasted here on a really unlikable main character, Eldon. He's rude. He's selfish. He's sexist. He's whiney. Really, there's just not much to like about him and it's REALLY hard to get past that and enjoy the rest of the story. The book is a 30-day countdown to the big day - Eldon's 18th birthday. The book itself wasn't so bad, it was just SO disappointing.
