I thought this was a cool concept for a book, but even though the narrative voice was engaging, the plot didn't really go many places I wasn't expecting. Also, all the wishes had sharp edges. It was really just a several-hundred-page exposition of "be careful what you wish for." Yes, magically getting what you think you want can't actually make you happy. Eldon knows this from the start and I like the way he explored the town and his relationships, but I don't know that I found him or his plight really moving or sympathetic. Mostly it was interesting, but not engrossingly so.

Also, I saw the ending coming pretty far in advance. I think Sedoti could have pushed the limits of her concept of wishing way further than she did.
