In seemingly normal Madison, magic lies beneath the surface. On their 18th birthday, every member of Madison gets to enter the cave and make a wish - a wish that will come true. But there are rules to wishing, and the wish cannot impact the world outside of Madison. Most kids know exactly what they'll wish for on their 18th birthday: money, beauty, love, athleticism. But Eldon isn't most kids and he has no idea what to wish for. With his mom pressuring him to wish for money, his father pressuring him to be good at football, and his best friend trying to convince him that Wishing is a big scam, Eldon is confused and uncertain. Dealing with the recent loss of his sister in a tragic accident, Eldon's family is a shell of what it once was. As the big day approaches, Eldon's uncertainty only grows.

I really enjoyed this book. The writing was strong, the pacing was well done. I really enjoyed the way that the story alternated between Eldon's timeline and learning about other townspeople's wishes. The concept of wishing was also something I felt was unique and well executed. Eldon's growth and emotions felt realistic and believable and I felt satisfied with the way the story ended as well. Overall, I recommend picking up this book!
