I had never heard of this book until I was scrolling through the bookish first pages. I'm not really sure what caught my attention exactly because it is not a book I would normally pick out to read. I am so glad I did read it.

The most wonderful thing about this book is that the author makes the reader take pause and think about the things that he or she may wish for. Are the things we think we truly desire worth it in the end? Having things given to you is not always the best way.

The author takes a look into wishing for love, money, beauty and all the frivolous things most humans desire. If we had one wish would we wish for any of these things and if so, how would those things affect our lives and who we are as individuals. This book is a great endorsement for the saying "the grass is not always greener on the other side'.

Along with the wish proponent of the book, you are also an eyewitness to a boy learning how to becoming a man. Through a tragic event with his sister, he kind of loses his way and loses his sense of self. With the help of his two best friends and another couple of sources (that seem unlikely), he is able to look adversity in the eye and become a person that he hopes others respect and he is to be proud of.
