Not enough to tell

This is a part of my quest to go back through and hit all the old books in an effort to garner more points to use on free books. In so doing, I download a bunch of the excerpts, slap them on the nook, and then later, offline, read through them and make notes, only to come back here to write those up at a later point.
Giving it only three stars because that's the neutral zone. The fact is, there are only four pages in this "first look" excerpt, and that's not enough to be able to tell whether or not this book will be worth reading. Still further, there's not enough context to attempt to understand whether terms like "thirsty skirt" are an effort to keep with the lingo of the times or are just as awkward as they come across in the excerpt. I'm leaning towards I don't want to read this one because of the religious undertones and the high amount of cliches present in just the four pages of the excerpt, but I'd have to make the determination based on a longer preview.
