As Bright as Heaven was a fantastic, thought-provoking book. I adored the characters, particularly Pauline, the mother, and Maggie, the middle daughter. The book depicted life's pendulum, with its endless back and forth of joys and sorrows.

This is the first piece of historical fiction I've read that centers on the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. The author did an excellent job of bringing Philadelphia to life and drawing a vivid portrait of life in the early twentieth century.

I was driven to tears many times, and I was similarly overjoyed by the Bright family's triumphs and loves. I savored this novel, soaking up the moments and letting them live inside me for a while. This is one of those rare books that I dread the end of. I should have read another 400 pages because the Bright family's tale continues to captivate me.

I will definitely read more by this author!
