This book is about the Bright family (a father, mother and three daughters) who move to Philadelphia to help their Uncle Fred with his funeral home business and seek a new opportunity. It was interesting to read the insight of how funeral homes worked in the early 1900's. Soon after the Bright family settles in their new home and life, the catastrophic Spanish flu hits with terrible effects and consequences to the Bright family and their community. The novel was written before the Coronavirus pandemic, but reading this a reader will see many correlations and similarities despite the 100 year difference in time. The positive to take is the hope and knowledge that humans will continue to move forward despite the challenges we face and endure. This novel is told from several different perspectives allowing a reader to experience the different thoughts and feelings of each character who are all enduring love and loss.
