Engrossing!
To put it plain and simple - I soaked up this book. I was a sponge, drinking in the wonderful writing. And what a gorgeous cover!
Although the beginning started just a tad slow - I still rate it with five stars because the slow build is part of its charm.
What a unique setting - much in a funeral home. I learned so much about the flu epidemic and how drastically it effected entire towns and communities.
I loved the numerous points of view - giving a full picture of what the family went through. I never got confused or frustrated on "who" was speaking.
I was especially drawn to the young people in the story and their perspectives. Susan Meissner is a very talented storyteller and I've read several of her books.
