Anchored Hearts is a beautifully told story of family reconciliation and second chances. Told in the author's lush style, the descriptions of the sights, sounds, and smells on The Rock bring the island alive on every page. There's an ebb and flow to the story that allows the reader to settle in with these characters in a way that makes them family, experiencing the highs and lows of their emotions right alongside them. While the romance of this story is between Ale and Ana, the heart of the story is Alejandro's love for his family and the island. Until he makes peace with the past, and bridges the gap with his father, he can't reclaim the heart of the woman he loves. Ana, the Princesa of the Navarro family, learns that only by letting go of the anger can she move on with the new life she's worked so hard to create for herself. That Alejandro sees Anamaria for who she is now, and helps her to reach for those dreams, melts my romance-loving heart. Their love and genuine affection for one another shine through in the care and consideration of both their words and actions.
As the story came to an end, I found myself just as overjoyed for the family reconciliation as I was for the romance. From the youngest to the oldest, the Navarro and Miranda families feel like family. I can't wait to return to the island to visit with them again.
