I loved this 2nd installment in the Keys to Love series by Priscilla Oliveras! Although this can be read as a stand alone, I also encourage you to read Island Affair because it makes everything so much sweeter.
This was a second chance romance between Anamaria Navaro and Alejandro Miranda. Anamaria is not only a firefighter but also a fitness influencer who is building her business and brand. Alejandro is back in the Keys recovering from an injury after a decade away following his own dreams & becoming a famous photographer. Although they were once high school sweethearts with plans for a real future together too many things got in their way not the least o which were the miles that separated then when Alejandro left all those years ago.
This was the perfect rom-com full of so many he heavy emotions, past hurts, adorable moments, heated banter, and meddling mamis. The way Oliveras peppers in Spanish dialogue among the Latinx characters makes this story extremely relatable for a Latinx Spanish speaker and also totally accessible for a non-Spanish speaker because of how she seamlessly translates through context cues and conversation.
For return readers there were so many great glimpses at the entire Navarro family that we got to know in the first book which was so satisfying.
I am so impressed with this series and hope to one day get a follow up book that might tell Enrique’s story or a book to screen adaptation!!
