I loved her first book. I’ve never been to Key West, but I have lived in Florida, I truly felt transported into the area and into the Cuban family. (Also I loved the recipe cards that came with the book! Can’t wait to try out some Cuban food) Romance books are predictable, and this was no different, but that’s why we read romance, for the predictability. No matter the drama and the miscommunication and the arguments, we know the main characters are going to make it through together and as better more well-rounded people. I am not always a fan of a friends to enemies to friends to lovers plot, I prefer strangers to lovers, but I found the way the author handled the estrangement between the two main characters and the pain that went along with them on both sides in a beautiful way. I was rooting for the two to end up together very early on because the chemistry was real.
