An amazing follow-up to Island Affair. I could tell during Island Affair that we'd get to hear Anamaria's story in Oliveras next novel in the Keys to Love series-- I was thrilled. Anamaria's character had essentially a cameo appears in the first novel and you get a taste of her genuine and fun personality.

Anamaria is a fierce young woman. She's fun and driven. She's on a mission to bring health and fitness not just to those she loves and her community, but as many people as she can reach. Her business has finally taken flight, both because of her own ambition and because of her growing social media presence (thanks to her soon-to-be sister-in-law and influencer, Sara). She's happily living in the Florida Keys, she loves it here, the people, her family, the familiar places. All of it is rooted in her heart. The one disadvantage is that all of these places have been tainted by memories.

It's starting to get better and she's growing and moving on, but home is also the place her high school love left her to take on his own career and adventures. Here is where her heart was shattered. She's mending though and finally finding confidence to find her own path to success. And then Alejandro returns.

Alejandro left home over a decade ago as a teenager. He had a massive blow-out fight with his father about not taking over the family restaurant. His dad said to never return, and Ale has made it his goal to uphold that promise. Until he can't anymore. A tumble down a waterfall pretty much shattered his leg bone and he needs major recuperation and physical therapy.... at home.

His return home is a catalyst for Anamaria. I love that she's the type of character to find it in her heart to embrace forgiveness and a clean slate instead of holding on to the hurt and anger. And that very attitude is what sends her and Ale into a new type of relationship.

A sweet and touching romance that isn't JUST a happily ever after (not that there is anything wrong with that). It deals with hurt and guilt and fear. It deals with troubling family roles and relationships. And how those aspects bleed into every single relationship and choice we make. It was great to see each of these main characters grow from their teenage selves and teenage relationship into something more adult and solid.

I really enjoyed this one and am already eagerly anticipating hearing about the next Navarro sibling's romance that is sure to be book three!

This book is peppered with the Spanish language and I love that authentic look into the way families speak to each other and keep hold of their culture. I have loved being able to read books from diverse authors and diverse backgrounds. It's enriching look into a beautiful and fun culture that has me positively itching to visit the Keys and experience the sights, sounds, and tastes that Oliveras writes so lovingly about!
