Pandemic reading, for sure

This is a part of my quest to go back through and hit all the old books in an effort to garner more points to use on free books. In so doing, I download a bunch of the excerpts, slap them on the nook, and then later, offline, read through them and make notes, only to come back here to write those up at a later point.
First off - did anyone else find it strange that the excerpt for this one started with chapter 2? Who does that? That had to be hands down the most annoying thing about this "first look." That aside, this one comes across as a tabloid-style drama - 100% fake and unrealistic, no possibility for suspension of disbelief, straight up book junk food - zero nutritional (knowledge) value. That being said, it's like staying home from school sick as a kid and switching over to Jerry Springer after Bob Barker finished up the Price is Right. You know it's trash and it's bad for you, but you're sick, you don't care, and you just need some nonsense. This is that nonsense. I wouldn't pay full price for this, but it's pandemic reading, no brain required, and this is the time for that. I'll snag it on thriftbooks for cheap.
