The premise of the novel seemed interesting as it is about a younger man courting an older woman. This book was really hard for me to get into. The characters felt very flat and the writing felt very aloof. I did not feel like I was engaged with the story or the people in it. Scott was a bit meandering and a little rude to the women he dated. He seemed to give them little pause, and I do not think I cared for him much. As such, particularly since he is the character from whose point-of-view the story is told, it made it that much harder to get into.
Another problem I had was that the plot never drew me in, it lacked certain appeal, mostly in the missing emotional aspect, as well as the blandness.
That’s not to say that someone else wouldn’t love this book.
