This book is so many things that I don't normally pick up; historical fiction, told from a male protagonist's perspective. I'm a little wary of the way Scott seems to use Millie and obsesses over the countess at first, but it looks like he might just be a romantic and not a man who believes he is entitled to women. I do really enjoy the touchs on race and class, especially in the context of America versus Europe and I hope to see more of this in the book. After reading the first look, this book has the promises of one I'll love.
The cover seems to pair beautifully with this first look and definitely promises a glamourous, romantic story. I’m definitely intrigued since I wouldn’t normally read something like this, but I hope the rest of the book is as good as the first look.
