I loved this book so much! When a young woman down on her learns of a paid college study, she decides to sneak into the study. She has no ill will, but the money would really help her out. Soon, the study gets very personal, but since it’s anonymous, Jessica Farris doesn’t see a problem with going forward. When Jessica is chosen to be a part of a follow-up “special” study that pays even more, she decides it’s probably worth it. However, things quickly start unraveling.
This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I was uncomfortable for Jessica from the beginning when she had to deep dive into some of the darkest aspects of her life. These characters were so likable and as someone who lives in New York and has struggled with money, I identified with Jessica. I was sucked in from the very beginning, and it was probably one of my favorite books of the year.
