I enjoyed the twists of The Wife Between Us, so I was excited to see that Hendricks and Pekkanen had written another book together. As far as genre, it delivered in the same category of dark and suspenseful. Early on I felt pretty drawn into the story. I was so curious about this mysterious study Dr. Shields was conducting. Somewhere in the middle, though, things seemed to slow down. There was still more to be revealed, but it felt unnecessarily drawn out. The excitment dropped and my interest waned quite a bit. I was a little disappointed by the time I finished, which was unfortunate as I started out with high hopes. I still think overall it was a pretty enjoyable read, but there are so many great books in this genre this won't be one I recommend widely.
