I REALLY enjoyed “ The Wife Between Us” so “An Anonymous Girl” was at the very TOP of my most anticipated books for 2019...but I must say I wasn’t “Wowed” by this book at all, but I also didn’t “Not” like it. I’m really not sure where I stand with it. Thus, my middle of the road 3 star rating.

What I enjoyed: The pacing was super fast and I flew through it, the storyline is one that I’ve yet to see done before and I’ve read A LOT of mystery/thrillers, it was very suspenseful and I was kept on the edge of my seat, and I liked the duel narrators in which we could see what Dr. Shields was really thinking and also how Jess felt.

Contains spoilers below—- BEWARE!!!

What I didn’t like: Why in the world would anyone go to this degree to catch her husband cheating? Testing at least a hundred different girls in order to find the right one? Paying out thousands of dollars? Taking a leave of absence, giving girls Vicodin for them to potentially overdose? It just seems like a bit much to me, and not very believable. I wish that the reason behind the testing was something other than cheating—- this story could have taken us anywhere than where it did and it probably would have been better. There were no surprising twists at all, I just kept waiting to be shocked but it didn’t happen.

I don’t regret reading this book, but I definitely wouldn’t have read it in January and put it ahead of so many others.
