📝 Brief synopsis: Jess sneaks in an opportunity to be a part of a psych study because it means an extra $500 that she could really use right now for either her shoestring budget or to go to help her disabled sister’s health care. As her involvement with the study and entanglement in the psychologist’s personal life (ahem, and her husband) continues, she realizes she may be in over her head.

🚫 CW: suicide, sexual assault

💭 My thoughts: I had high hopes for this book after reading The Wife Between Us, which is one of my faves, and I think I was a tad let down. 😬 This book is still a creepy wild ride and totally relatable — I’m also a single gal making ends meet in a city and would have absolutely taken the opportunity to earn some cash to answer some questions. It’s always uncomfy when you read a book like these where you’re like wow. It me. Dang. But, that being said, it pales in comparison to The Wife Between Us. Still such a fan of these authors!
