This did not turn out to be the book for me, but for those readers who like a slow burn of a psychological thriller and don't mind the whole "woman undermining another woman's sanity because of a man" trope. The writing is competent and I was excited to see someone using the second person and a clinical voice. Another reader might find this more their speed--and I am passing the book along to someone else in hopes that exactly that happens.

In general, I found that the switches in perspective were my biggest hangup; some authors are able to win me over with this kind of book architecture, but Hendricks and Pekkanen are unfortunately not among them. They certainly know how to appeal to readers of Gillian Flynn, though!
