Set in my home state of Alabama, I enjoyed this book.

It's WWII and people are looking for jobs. The US Government has them at the local ammunition plat. Dolly owns the local boardinghouse that allows these new folks to stay near work.

In the boardinghouse, there are a variety of characters: former Yankee professors, a young veteran, and a Mississippi widower. These new people must find a way to live their new lives. However, the house also has a story.

But even Dolly isn't immune from trouble. As she faces tragedy, it's the people who live under her roof who become her family. The all need to figure out what happened a century before.

It's a compassionate story of loss, hope, and love.
