I loved Almost Home and could not put the book down. Make sure you have time to binge read this book! Almost Home is told from each main character's point of view but unlike other books each character has a section and not just a chapter. The characters are well developed and feel like a part of my family. I have to stop asking myself "I wonder what Dolly and Si are up today and how they are feeling". This historical fiction book deals with the many issues of that time period while addressing the hidden issues such as PTSD that were not ever talked about after World War 2. The setting is beautifully described and made me want to sip sweet tea on my porch - even during a blizzard. Valerie Fraser Luesse does not disappoint and I am looking forward to reading more titles by her. I recommend this book to all ages and even gave it to my 95 year old grandma who I'm sure will love it just as much!
