I was pulled into this story from the beginning of Dolly’s letter to her sister. The letter is such a good description of what life in a small town is like. I also really liked how the author created a strong sense of place by describing what Jesse and Anna saw as they drove to the house. The tension between Jesse and Anna almost leapt off the page. I would love to know more about what brought them to this point in their marriage and what brought them to Dolly’s house. I’m curious to know whether the rift between Jesse and Anna can be healed and what part Dolly will play in that, or whether Dolly will become an ally in helping Anna move on from her marriage. This is a great beginning and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the book.
